Haiti Update
Dear CFM family,
An update is well overdue. I struggled with what to write because the reports were so discouraging as Haiti plummeted deeper into chaos and violence under the evil oppression of brutal gangs over the past few years. Kidnapping, sex trafficking, murder, rape and forcing people out of their homes were common place. With the police force basically understaffed and ill equipped to control these aggression, it got worse with every month.
It is with great joy we report that our Haitian families are reporting some degree of relief from the violence gripping port au Prince and much of Haiti for so long. Thank you for persisting in praying along side of us for God’s intervention to bring peace and provide relief for so long ! God is good, and we need to praise him for these answered prayers. There is still a long road ahead to returning Haiti to peace nationwide, repair of their infrastructure, and hope for the return of businesses that bring much needed supplies and jobs back to this poor nation.
The recent formation of an interim government with the help of other countries providing help for a multinational police force began a reduction in violence. We are told the US is providing supplies for the police to combat the gangs and setting up facilities for the anticipated multi-National police force that is scheduled to arrive soon.
Our Churches are having Sunday services, and some schools (including the two we support) remain open.
I am I amazed by the resiliency of the Haitian people, especially the believers. They continue to be optimistic despite the tragedies they have endured, never doubting that God would restore peace and meet their needs. We can learn so much from them about relying on God, and being content in our circumstances.
Thank you for remaining faithful in your support of CFM’s work, thru your continued prayers and financial support !
